Sound Assist: Jovim Ventura
So I've been working on a series of my favorite "Boom Bap" era hip hop covers in a LEGO style. I blended the two because they were so formative to me as an adolescent. They were both a big part of my transformation from a kid to a teen with a lot of overlap. I still love both today.
To add some fun/complexity to the project, I thought I'd do a mix (I'm Filipino, of course I tried DJing) and my friend Jovim Ventura gave me lots of tips on how to fix up the sound a bit. He was/is an amazing DJ/creative.
THEN instead of just blending the covers together, I thought it'd be fun to do a little bit of animation. I might do the whole series when it's done but at this point I had finshed 13 covers and decided to do my video mix with those.
I'm pretty proud of the fact that I drew all the covers/elements, mixed the tracks, did the motion gfx/animation, and blended it all together. It definitely added wrinkles to my brain to learn a lot of new & old things.
