I was able to fulfill a childhood dream: getting a comic book published. 12-year-old me would be beyond excited, not believing this was actually happening. Growing up, I always talked to friends about writing a story I could illustrate, but after many unsuccessful attempts, I finally decided to take the plunge and write my own story. What started as a personal project soon grew into something much bigger.
As the story progressed, Scout Comics showed interest in publishing the work, which was a huge relief. I don’t think I would’ve been ready to handle the logistics of shipping and distribution on my own, as I wanted to stay focused on the creative side.
This project is a dream come true—my first published comic series, Thud. I like to describe the story as having an Eastman and Laird’s TMNT vibe, with a dash of Frank Miller’s Daredevil, sprinkled with humor and nods to hip-hop culture.
The first arc consists of 8 issues, each ranging from 30-40 pages. I wrote, drew, and lettered each book, with editorial work by Andrea Molinari.
