Leather Portrait

Our family dog Toaster passed away on 03.21.2023. As a gift for my partner on Mother's day, I made a portrait of Toaster from leather. Toaster would hang out with me while I worked on leather projects, so I took a break after he passed. I wanted to work on leather again, so this felt very theraputic.

The process was fairly straightforward. I did an illustration of Toast first, cut up the different shades of leather, hand stitched them to the big piece, then stretched and stapled all of that to a wood frame.
