set out to create a series of LEGO Speed Champions concept sets inspired by vehicles from some of my favorite anime — using the project as a way to push myself across both 3D form and vector-based graphic design.
Set 01 — Toyota AE86 / Initial DThe AE86 felt like a natural starting point. I've always been drawn to its clean, understated design and the way Initial D transformed it into a genuine cultural icon. Unable to find an existing MOC that matched my vision, I built my own from scratch, focusing on proportions, structural stability, and faithful detailing. To round out the concept, I designed a Takumi Fujiwara minifigure, a custom sticker sheet, and retail-ready packaging artwork.
Set 02 — Kaneda's Bike / AkiraFor the second set, I reimagined Kaneda's motorcycle from Akira. Starting from an existing MOC as a foundation, I refined the model to better capture the anime's signature decals and nail the silhouette. A Kaneda minifigure, sticker sheet, and packaging mockup complete the concept.
Set 03 — Renault 5 Turbo / Dragon BallBulma's Renault 5 Turbo was an easy choice — I've always loved it for its bold shape, quirky detailing, and that striking aqua color. It's such an unexpected vehicle, and it reflects Bulma's personality perfectly. Same treatment as the others: custom sticker sheet, minifigure, and packaging mockup.
Set 04 — Devil Z / Wangan MidnightThe fourth set is built around Akio's Nissan Fairlady Z from Wangan Midnight. I'll admit I haven't read much of the manga, but the car itself has always had a strong pull on me. That early-70s silhouette holds up beautifully today, and the fender mirrors are a detail I'm particularly fond of — impractical by modern standards, but undeniably cool.
