For this LEGO series, I wanted to build some of the Japanese cars I’ve always loved but haven’t seen as official sets. We’ve gotten the Skyline and the Supra, but there are so many others I wish existed. For these builds, I either took existing MOCs and reworked them to match the image I had in mind or designed them from scratch.

First up is the 90s Honda NSX (known in the US as the Acura NSX). I’ve always loved this car. The silhouette is perfect, and it looks like it would be an absolute blast to drive. I went with yellow since we’ve all seen plenty of red NSXs. I almost chose Monte Carlo Blue but ultimately went with Spa Yellow. Honestly, if it were up to me, every car I owned would be painted some shade of aqua or Tiffany blue anyway. =)

I have a nostalgic attachment to the Nissan Silvia (S13) (known in the US as the Nissan 240SX). It was my introduction to drifting, and it happened completely by surprise. My buddy Eric was driving when he suddenly drifted into a turn. I thought he had lost control and that we were about to crash into some parked cars, but he pulled out of it perfectly and kept driving as if nothing had happened while laughing the entire time. Meanwhile, I was convinced I was about to pee my pants. Ever since then, drifting and this car have been permanently linked in my brain. The sticker sheet for this one is pretty minimal, but I added a few “scratches” as a nod to the drivers who like to keep theirs as battle scars.

I also have a soft spot for the Toyota bB (known in the US as the Scion xB). It was such a funky-looking wagon when it first came out, and I had to have it. It was the first car I ever bought and paid for on my own, so there’s definitely some emotional attachment. I got into modifying because of this wagon, and it introduced me to VIP Style (bippu).

For this set, I thought it would be fun to make the “stock” bB the main build, and include a few extra parts and stickers so you can create an “aftermarket” version. It works kind of like a 3-in-1 Creator set, except this would be a 2-in-1 Speed Champions set. The souped-up bB has an aftermarket body kit, different stickers, and even a hood ornament. And just for fun, I made the minifigure me haha.
