I had the privilege of collaborating with Presbyterian on an anti-stigma campaign addressing polysubstance abuse, with the goal of encouraging people facing substance challenges to seek support without shame or fear.

At the time, I was craving work with more meaning and empathy behind it. This project arrived at exactly the right moment. Beyond the subject matter, it was also a deep dive into video and animation, covering character design, backgrounds, and storyboarding, and I couldn't have asked for a better team to do it with.

To tell the story sensitively, we made a deliberate choice to avoid designing characters that looked too human, so as not to reduce anyone's experience to a single face or identity. The characters are abstract, but expressive enough to carry a full emotional range and invite genuine empathy from the viewer. I think we landed that.

The Presbyterian team brought a real collaborative energy to the whole process, with everyone contributing to the creative direction. Joe deserves a special mention for pulling it all together with his animation and voiceover work. A true multi-talent.

Below you'll find early character explorations, background tests, storyboards, and the final video.
