Panlasa is a new restaurant, with Filipino and Hawaiian influences, opening in the Chicago French Market that needed a brand to represent themselves.
After having a few meetings with the owner and chef, Roland Floro Calupe, I learned just how much of his food with inspired by both Filipino and Hawaiian cuisine. Roland is a Filipino-American chef from Chicago with years of experiences in both kitchens and private prep. He spent some time in Hawaii as a personal chef to Kelly Slater, which helped him expand and evolve his palette.
The logo was made to reflect his influences of both islands, with a taro leaf in the shape of a P. The color palette was to also show the how much of the menu will be a representation of both land and water.
